Northwoods Ayurveda & Integrative Care

Work with me

My practice supports the places where the body and lived experience meet — where stress, early imprinting, or major transitions continue to shape how you move through your life. We work steadily and with clear pacing to support what your system is ready to shift.

How sessions work

Sessions move at the pace of your system. We begin by establishing grounding and regulation, then stay with what your body is showing over time. Each session blends clinical skill with attentive presence, supporting steady, sustainable change.

What this may look like:
• Beginning with what feels most present — stress, transition, symptoms, or long-held patterns
• Allowing your nervous system to set the pace, without rushing or forcing
• Gradually building clarity, steadiness, and capacity

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions before beginning this work

What can I expect in a first session?

A first session is a time to slow things down and get oriented. I’ll invite you to talk me through what brings you in and what’s been happening in your life recently, along with any relevant personal, health, or family history. It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and whether the approach feels like a good fit. Throughout the session, we attend to grounding and regulation while beginning to understand your system and establish a steady, supportive pace.

How do I know if this work is the right fit for me?

This work is often a good fit for people interested in holistic health who are looking for an integrative approach that considers both mind and body. Many clients are drawn to this work when they want care that is grounded and thoughtful, and that addresses stress, transition, or long-held patterns in a more connected way.

How do I choose between Ayurveda, somatic therapy, or perinatal support?

You don’t need to have it all figured out ahead of time. People often choose based on what feels most present — physical symptoms or daily rhythm, stress or overwhelm held in the body, or pregnancy, postpartum, and family transitions. If you’re unsure, you’re welcome to reach out and we can talk through what’s happening and identify a supportive place to begin.

What kinds of concerns or patterns do you work with most often?

I work with people navigating stress, chronic overwhelm, and periods of transition, as well as those noticing long-held patterns that continue to shape daily life. This may include early imprinting, pregnancy or postpartum transitions, ongoing health concerns, recovery after illness or head injury, or a sense that something in the body hasn’t fully settled. The work is shaped by what’s present for you, rather than by a single diagnosis or category.

How does your approach differ from traditional talk therapy?

When I’m working in a psychotherapy role at the master’s level, I practice as a non-licensed, non-certified psychotherapist in the state of Vermont. While conversation is an important part of sessions, the work also attends closely to the body and nervous system. Alongside insight and narrative, we work with sensation, regulation, and lived experience as they unfold, supporting change that is both psychological and physiological.

What happens if something emotional comes up during a session?

Emotional responses are a natural part of this work and are met with care and pacing. We slow things down as needed, staying oriented to regulation and safety rather than pushing through. The focus is on supporting your system to stay present and resourced while allowing what arises to be acknowledged and integrated.

How long does it usually take to notice a shift?

It varies. Some people experience clear or even significant shifts early on, while others notice more gradual changes such as feeling steadier, clearer, or better able to respond to stress. Deeper patterns often shift over time. This work is paced and cumulative, with attention to timing and capacity rather than quick results.

Do you give practices or suggestions to work with between sessions?

Yes, often. Many sessions include simple practices or suggestions to support integration between visits. In Ayurveda-focused work, this is a central part of the process and may include lifestyle or routine adjustments. These are always optional and intended to integrate what we’re working on, rather than add more to your plate. The focus is on sustainability and listening to your system.

Can I combine multiple modalities in my care?

Yes. Care can include more than one modality, either over time or as part of a more integrated approach. Some people work with a single focus, while others benefit from combining elements in a way that’s paced and coherent. The structure of care may evolve depending on what’s most supportive and how your system is responding.

Do you offer virtual sessions or is the work primarily in-person?

Most of my work is offered remotely. Many clients appreciate meeting this way because it allows them to remain in a calm, familiar space and take time to integrate afterward, rather than needing to transition quickly or drive home. In-person sessions are required for bodywork and are available for those local to the Upper Peninsula, and on occasion in Vermont.

What should I know if I’m pregnant or postpartum?

This work is offered with particular care during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Sessions are paced gently, with close attention to regulation, rest, and what feels supportive in your body and nervous system. Care may include emotional and somatic support, guidance around recovery and adjustment, and simple practices that support nourishment, bonding, and integration during this time. Sessions are adapted to your energy, capacity, and what feels manageable day to day.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

There’s no special preparation required. It can be helpful to arrive with a sense of what’s been most present for you recently, but you don’t need to organize or rehearse anything. Wearing comfortable clothing and allowing a little space before and after the session can support settling in and integration.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least a 24 hour notice (business days only) if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointments canceled with less than a 24 hour notice, or missed without notice, are charged at the full session fee. Monday appointments would need to be canceled by Friday to avoid the fee. I understand that emergencies arise, and exceptions are made in those cases.

What if I’m still unsure about where to begin?

That’s very common. If you’d like, you’re welcome to schedule a brief, free consultation to talk through what’s bringing you in and clarify a supportive place to start. There’s no pressure to decide everything at once.
